Cradle to Crib has been a bit quiet in the last few months. We're still very much here and developing, but I wanted to give a bit of context to our radio silence...
Since the beginning, Cradle to Crib clothes have been designed, sourced, manufactured, and marketed entirely by me, Amber. I've long had plans to outsource production, but I have very strong feelings about making sure that we don't sacrifice quality, ethics, or affordability. You may or may not know that most of the manufactured clothes out there are made in terrible conditions - I will never, never sell clothes that are only affordable because the people making them are paying the price. There are plenty of manufacturers who adhere to ethical working standards, but finding the right one who specialises in baby clothes is not a process that I want to rush.
So it continues to be me - and I'll be honest, I love it. It's hard work, but it's rewarding. I haven't even been able to photograph the new line yet because no sooner do I make enough stock than it sells out. Within the last few months though, I've not had much opportunity t0 do as much as I normally do, because we've recently added a baby to the mix! At least I have a live-in tester now.
Despite taking it more slowly lately, we are still building, and I'm keen to tell you about a few changes
Changes to our Cashback Scheme
From now on, rather than tracking what item you're returning, how many returns you've made, etc, we're simplifying the whole thing. Instead, when you are ready to return the clothes, you just fill out the form so we can arrange postage and once we receive the clothes we will assess the level of cashback or credit offered along guidelines that we will very soon lay out. There will be some amount of cashback or store credit for anything that's returned, even if it's been well loved! We're trying to encourage the habit, so even if we can't sell it on we'll honour the payment pledge.
(More) Reusable Nappies
We started stocking Bambino Mio nappies in October, which has been a huge success. If you watched my video from October, you'll have heard me allude to another brand we were thinking of stocking. I've gone back and forth on it because even though the product is amazing, it's a US based brand and I've been struggling with the idea of the environmental implications of shipments. I've now decided that I'm going to give it a try, so be sure to check them out in the online shop. I don't know if we'll get them in again though, so act fast if you're interested.
